rtorrent-screen

rtorrent-screen (2008) is a screen-dependent /etc/init.d/-style initscript for starting, restarting, and stopping rtorrent under source-based Gentoo and Exherbo Linux distributions. rtorrent is a CLI BitTorrent client emphasizing efficiency, simplicity, and keyboard operation. In other words, it’s not for everyone.

This script is authored by Leyli Cecil; licensed under the GNU General Public License; and publicly, freely downloadable.

Configuration

rtorrent is, frankly, a feral demoness of a BitTorrent client. Its unfashionably basic, black-and-white severity can be a bit… off-putting. (Graphically, it has nothing on KTorrent, µtorrent, or the frilly like.)

But — to put rtorrent back to a better footing and headily glorify its eccentric power-centric command-line austerity, Raiazome gives this well-documented feature-exhaustive “rc file” of rtorrent startup settings. In friendly conjunction with the rtorrent-screen “initscript”, above, this “rc file” should finely smooth the (admittedly) steep confrontational learning curve for rtorrent. Neophyte users (and epiphytic, longstanding users wanting to extract more thieving worth from it) are encouraged to look at this “rc file” — and found their own from it.
